Ogilala

“Pictured here is a stray note from the Ogilala album. Although it may seem somewhat insignificant, these notes indicate a thought process that I’ve rarely discussed in making albums for the last 30 years. It’s easy to achieve musical dynamics, say pitting a soft song against a heavy one; or in the case of an acoustic record, a fast song against a slow one. But in my opinion, what’s just as valuable is the emotional narrative of a body of work. I have no memory of making these notes, but what strikes me here, is my open grappling with the themes on a record that I would venture to say was my re-emergence from a very long slumber indeed. Working as I often have, with a set of theatric archetypes that often only play in my mind.” – WPC
