My First Album

In 1995, my Christmas present was a CD player I’d asked for with the sole purpose of listening to ‘The Melancholy’. It was the album that accompanied me from the ages of 13 to 15, playing nonstop on every walk I took, trying to keep the songs from stopping for any bump. If there’s one album that has marked my life, it’s this one. At 18, in college, that CD disappeared from my parents’ house, and it wasn’t until 20 years later, at 38, that it returned to my hands. I put it on the stereo, this time at home, turned up the volume, and for the first time, I was able to listen to that CD from my adolescence at full volume and relive for a few minutes the same sensations of shouting, “The world is a vampire!”
