Brandisc, I know how you feel! I've been to 8 shows now, and it's sad when the people around you complain because you're enjoying the music "too much"! Screw them! I noticed some of the crowd was a little dissappointed, but in my row way up in the mezzanine in row JJ, we were yelling and rocking our hearts out and throwing confetti and had a great time! I was lucky to be surrounded by others rocking out just as much! It was great to meet Billy after the show, though I made an ass of myself when I thanked him for playing the Psychic TV song and he corrected me to tell me it was Pink Floyd, hah! Hah, shows how much I know, though the Psychic TV version is fantastic too! If you want to read a personal account of a journey of a fan through 3 of the shows, you're welcome to read my story here, www.myspace.com/hellodolly

The show was high energy, and if you are having doubts as to whether to see the Pumpkins this tour or not, just release yourself and go! They really did play songs from all eras and albums, there was a great variety and it all flowed together well. It's definitely not your greatest hits cd!

I had a great time.

I was back about 10 rows and had a great time at the show. I was really blown away at how diverse they have really gotten and all the more power to them for playing what they want to play. I will be honest with you they had some people there that kind of ruined it with all the complaining about them not performing ALL of their greatest hits. I kind of wish they had performed the show to a smaller crowd which would have meant more dedicated fans. I mean come on whats up with the 30 year old wives taking their 50 year old hubbies to the show who just sit there and stare into blank space. I went to see Pearl Jam in NY play a venue of like 1000 people 3 years ago and that show kicked ass. It was only a standing venue and some people I knew were there and the whole place was totally having a blast. That's really the only complaint I had about the show is please people can you leave your musically challenged friends home who just complain and don't like to rock out. Let the rockers do the rocking. Since I moved to Charlotte I have noticed the crowds just aren't the same or as educated about the music. Wish Pumpkins would play MSG in NY. I would probably go there just because you know the shows gonna be big and the crowds always feeling the music.

oh yeah

ok so here goes the show [bad word removed]in rocked and the guy who said they played silver[bad word removed] and zero well they didnt if you look at the set lists from the last few shows it was exactly the same with no zero or silver[bad word removed] because i printed out one pf the list from the afler theater show and it was the same song for song the last song before the encore was set the controls by floyd the acoustics were a little down but if you were close like me then you didnt need acoustics cause my ears were getting blown off but i would like to see them fill up a big arena like bobcats arena but the show was awesome the last time i saw them was in 1998 for the adore tour and they didnt play the hits then because everybody hears those its the ones deep on the album that are some of the most awesome songs they have when they played at ovens in 98 the sound was the same the arena kinda sucks for sound but it makes a good atmosphere for a show and not 20 thousand people to have to fight when leaving the lot to go home i rate it a 5 of 5 i would say a 100 out of 5 if it were the original and the kazoos part was the coolest and i have to say billy looked more happier than usual

Amazing, As ALWAYS!

This was my 17th time seeing the Pumpkins and I thought the show was awesome. I did hear fellow concert goers complaining around me all night, and although I understand that not everyone is a die hard SP fan, shut the [bad word removed] up and let those around you who are enjoy the music! The thing that makes the Pumpkins great is the versatility of the music. Each and every album is totally different, yet distinctly the Pumpkins. If all you want to hear are the radio songs, stay home and listen to your iPOd. If you want an experience and a chance to really FEEL the music, then spend the $50 bucks to see the band. I do have to say that I miss James and D'Arcy, but that just meant that I got to focus all of my attention on Billy

Rocked my face off

First of all...fairyfighter, will you be my girlfriend? You said everything correctly. This show was incredible on all fronts. I was actually going into it expecting to be disappointed because at the other two shows I've been to, I was right up front...however this show was great. From getting to hear Siva to Billy showing his avid love for the cubs to watching him rip his strings off of his guitar and strum with them, it was a [bad word removed]ing blast.
I especially enjoyed "We only come out at night" with the kazoos.
After the show Billy came out and shook hands and talked to the fans. I was especially excited that he shook mine and that I got to tell him what a great show he and the other pumpkins put on. All in all it was a really great time had by all and I can't wait to do it again soon...hopefully with fairyfighter in tow.

Loved it

I have been a huge fan of the pumpkins for years and was so glad I finally got to see them live and now I'm addicted to it. As far as the show went, I was really impressed with the visuals and with the music that was performed. As far as the crowd went, some members of the crowd could have been more energetic, but it is rather difficult to do in a crowded auditorium. I think the "political speech" actually fueled the crowd and made the whole place a lot more excited. I did get rather angry though at the rudeness of some of the fans.... I heard several say that they were disappointed in the band for not playing all of their greatest hits....
I thought that the songs performed where great and really showcased the newer pumpkins songs... while I love Siamese Dream and Adore, I would have never expected the show to be all about the past
Come on people... Zeitgeist is an awesome album and I'm glad i got to hear the new stuff
Another comment that was thrown around was that the band talked to much and didn't play enough music...
I thought the talking part was great and showed that they care about interacting with the fans...

And I can't wait until GLOW is released and to see them again in concert!

A Blast!

I'm an admitted latecomer to the Pumpkins but that did nothing to hinder my enjoyment of the show. There was that starstruck feeling seeing Billy live and full of boundless energy, not to mention Jimmy on the drums! I'll have to agree with the guy above as far as the acoustics went. I think that is what kept the crowd from getting totally into the music, for the most part...though there were some 'wine and cheesers' there no doubt. The acoustics were so bad in fact (plus, remeber I'm a relative newbie to the Pumpkins so while I recognize songs, I don't know all the titles) the only songs that I recognized were Zero, United States, Tonight, Tonight, Today, BWBW, Heavy Metal Machine, Speed Kills, Mayonaise, We Only come out..., and the Summer Time closer. They obviously played more, and maybe I forgot some that I did recognize, but the acoustics just weren't working at times. Really would've liked Ode to No one and 1979 and Porcelina and To Shelia (hell, every song from every album, you know?) but I was pleasantly surprised to hear Mayonaise, as I don't think that's a constant on any of their setlists.

The lightshow was brilliant though as they flashed the 'highbeams' into the crowd's faces during silver[bad word removed] (I think that was it?) It may be the same at every show on this tour, but it doesn't take the fun out of their encore performances of We Only Come out... and Summer Time. That's just a great way to follow up a show, after their exhausting (in a good way) United States performance...what versatlity!!

I don't agree with what the guy above says about the 'political speech.' All he did was tell an anecdote (while waiting on the Cubs fan to come down from the mezzanine to the front row on Billy's request) about someone after the Knoxville show telling him the show sucked because some Republican friends of his were there. He then polled the audience if a)"Anyone thinks this country has its shit together" b)If anybody thinks things will be better with a new president in place (this got the most applause) and c)"Is this country the beginning of the end" to which I agreed. Billy never voiced his opinion, and it was such a minute portion of the show, I would hardly call it a "speech" or anything didactic. Just having some fun with the audience, which I appreciated.

Anyway, just a damn good blast, and I look forward to the Pumpkins coming back to NC, but in a better venue. And yes, it is official, the Pumpkins are definitely back!!!!

Could have been better

I love the pumpkins and the fact that I got to see them live really means something to me. But overall I was hoping for a better experience. There were several issues with the concert that I was disappointed with. First of all, the crowd sucked. Everyone was just standing there, even through the radio songs. Some people were moving their heads but few were actually getting into the music. Then there was the music itself. The acoustics themselves were bad. At times you could not tell what songs were being played or the bass drum or bass guitar were louder than Billy’s vocals. The 30+/- min jam session really killed the crowd too. Lastly, I went to see them play music not get a political speech. This concert could have been way better but I was happy to see one of my all time favorite bands live.
