I loved the show!

It was the first time I saw the group.
I never thought i would see the SP in my live playing the songs I like (because i begon to listen to the songs in 2002)

That night was so increadable for me, It meand a lot for me to hear the group live.

I hope to see the group again soon, where ever it is around Belgium, i'll be there! And I hope to catch a pick!:-)

Well. That concert was amazingly great! The best Smashing Pumpkins show I've seen so far!

The audience was totally insane, Billy Corgan was in a really great shape, the concert hall was really cool, and the sound was great...
As the show began with "Porcelina", I thought "Wow, this is gonna be an amazing concert!". And I was right.

From BC's speech about the belgian audience to his jokes to the crowd, I could see that he was happy to be there, and as the audience was really happy too, this was a great time.

I liked the setlist the most at this show, even Ava Adore which didn't satisfy me at the other shows I've seen in 2008.
Cash Car Star and TEG were great too!
I was so happy to hear Stellar. Once again, this song is perfect for live shows. As Superchrist! I lovelovelove this song.
Mayonaise was pure emotion...
Jimmy's drums were crazy on United States, it ruled!

Ah, and I thought I will explode from good vibrations when they played the encore "Lips Like Sugar": Billy danced, jumped, well, it was so cool I'm still boucing!

THANKS to the Smashing Pumpkins for all the great moments they make us live.. ♥

Hi all!

First of all, I was one of the luckiest guy in the world, because shortly after the Budapest show was cancelled, I've been informed that I had to go to Brux on 21. feb 2008 (business trip). Soon after I knew this I browsed the SP.com randomly and found that the band will play on 19. feb! So I've booked the plane ticket two day earlier, called up a friend of mine, who lives there, and went to the show. It was [bad word removed]in amazing. two and a half hours, man. The vibe of the vieuphoira and other live footages from the '90s came alive, there was a good balance beetween the old and new songs plus I never thought I will see and hear myoniaise live. And that was GREAT.

Billy was in a good mood, he was joking with the belgians, and the audience was also cool. I think I was the only hungarian in the crowd

This was an utterly fantastic show. Previously, I'd seen the Pumpkins only once, at Pinkpop last year, and although I was impressed then, it was nothing compared to what the band produced yesteday.

The first thing which needs to be mentioned is the playing. Billy was of course centre-stage, pulling off riff after riff on the guitar, squeezing every last sound out like it was toothpaste from an empty tube. It was fantastic to see, and to hear. What was more is that he continued doing this throughout the whole night, not just every now and again. It added so much to the evening, knowing he was doing his best, and enjoying seeing him enoying doing what he was doing. How he didn't pass out halfway through the set is a mystery. For almost three hours, he didn't take a single break, but sang his way through song after song. Any time he wasn't singing, he was playing, REALLY playing and pushing his guitars. It was an outright incredible performance, unlike anything I have ever seen before from any band anywhere.

Jimmy was off the charts. The drumming was relentless; loud, hard and impossibly well-timed. The intro to 'United States' sets my hair on end on CD, but seeing it live is an unbelievable experience. He was in the spotlight and the pressure to pull it off must have been inbelievable, but he streamed through it and hammered out the rest of the song as though it was nothing. And this was at the end of the concert.

Ginger and Jeff didn't get quite as much opportunity to prove themselves as Billy and Jimmy, but this isn't to say they played poorly in any way. They did an excellent job; 'SuperChrist' was, without a doubt, one of the highlights of the night. Jeff responded straight away when Billy threw the challenge to him and the two went head-to- head trying to outperform each other. Jeff had a solo late in the show and he really shone through. Maybe Ginger had the same opportunity; I don't remember. Either way, they both played well, even without Billy in the encore.

Lisa wasn't as busy as the other four members, but when they played 'My Blue Heaven', she was given an opportunity to prove herself. They played 'My Blue Heaven'! Brilliant! This is the last thing you could expect, but it just goes so far in showing the diversity the Pumpkins have. Anyway, she did a brilliant job on the song, which was performed with just her and Billy on acoustic. It really added a lot in seeing something so unexpected. The lighting was perfect here as well, and did a lot to capture the mood of the song.

And speaking of the mood, they played an arrangement for 'Lily (My One and Only)' which I've never heard before. It added a great deal and really brought out the kind of silly fun in the song. It was great; a far better version than on the album.

It was the same with 'Ava Adore'. Obviously they didn't need a drum machine with Jimmy there, but the song had other differences which I can't really describe, but which just made it fit in so much better with the set as a whole.

The set was long, but it worked as a set. It didn't feel like it was a stop-and-start effort to hit the high notes of the Pumpkins' albums; it worked as though it was trying to investigate a mood or a theme, similar to a Pink Floyd concert. There was nothing which stood out as inappropriate; everything merged in well together, especially with the frequent manner the band segued from one song into the next.

There were a few songs Billy played solo or acoustic. 'Perfect' was just Billy and Jimmy on a tambourine. Maybe it was done to give the rest of the band the opportunity to rest, but what was important was the way it went together with everything else. It didn't slow anything down or let the audience get bored. It was the same with '1979' and 'That's the Way'; they were paired together and played acoustic. They worked beautifully in this manner and Billy brought out the beauty of the songs in a different way to how they would have been if played electric.

This isn't to say the electric songs were worse for wear. 'SuperChrist' was astonishing. There's no other word for it. It was so well played - seemingly effortlessly. What was surprising is it didn't seem to set the audience on fire, but then, when it was followed by 'C'mon Let's Go', everyone exploded.

The same happened when 'Bullet with Butterfly Wings' began. Everything took off. And honestly, with the power Jimmy was putting out, and the strength of the bass, there must have been a few buildings toppled in the area from the shock waves. It was great. And what was just as good was the lights; they brought out a lot in the song and credit is due. A few people who were in the seating mentioned getting a few blasts from the lights aimed outwards on occasion, but it wasn't something I noticed very much in the pit and didn't find a problem when I was further from the stage.

'United States' was outstanding. Billy ended up playing the guitar against the amp, by waving it around, by doing virtually everything to get sound from it, and it was brilliant to see. That the band could pull this song off, flawlessly, at the end of the set, just went to show the level of talent in there. It was an incredible performance, and it seemed to astonish the audience, or me at least, that they were still pulling things of so perfectly after such an energetic set.

'Mayonaise' was beautiful, but not just rolled off as might be expected with a song from fourteen years ago. It was played more as though the band was sharing it with the audience, rather than playing it because it was expected. Actually, they involved the audience in a way I didn't see at Pinkpop, and the audience responded, also in a way I didn't see at Pinkpop. Billy talked a little about 'American Gothic' to introduce 'The Rose March' and had a good talk before 'Drown'. It was also fun, because he was enjoying it with the audience:

'Belgium, the country where every person eats 23 lb of chocolate every year!'

The audience responded and honestly, having so much energy in the audience added a lot to the experience, especially when it brought so much of a smile to the members of the band.

There was only one song in the encore. It is kind of disappointing possibly, but after that show, honestly, they didn't need to go any further. Everyone was exhausted. And actually, the song they played was a new song, which might sound odd for an encore, but Billy didn't play guitar, and it gave him the opportunity to move more freely around the stage, which was great in the encore.

If it was possible, I would go to this concert again tomorrow. It was fantastic and I have to recommend anyone who is a Pumpkins fan, or a fan of drums or guitar, to go and see it. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

Sorry for the length of this.
