i might be biased because it was my first SP show and have no other SP live experience to compare it to, but i still think this show was amazing; yes, the sound did fail a few times, but that happens when you're in the front rows. Very very unfortunately i actually missed a song i later saw on youtube and went "OMFG WHERE WAS I WHEN THAT HAPPENED", and i'm talking about "Daydream".

I think that this show contains one of the lengthiest Billy's "nowhere fast" speeches, but it was totally enjoyable ("i want to get in with the Linking Park, find out what's so great about them. do we have to get a DJ?" "The guy from Linkin Park used to mow my lawn! seriously! I got them started!" and the famous part of "[bad word removed] ALTERNATIVE ROCK".).

The setlist was amazing, as proved by playing so many shows with the same setlist, but i must add that this crowd was lucky to experience one of the longest versions of this setlist.
I was honestly amazed to hear My Blue Heaven and Lily, although it had appeared on the previous setlists already. Mayonaise took my breath (and i'm not one of those who see Siamese Dream as paradigmatic) and the live version of That's The Way has got to be one of the touching moments of the show.

2,5 HOURS ISNT A LOT when you get to listen to songs like this.
The crowd seemed to have a good vibe going on, and Billy was kind as ever (this is partly a joke.. ). I just wish there was an opportunity to meet them afterwards.

I'm very pleased to have travelled to GB and Scotland in particular to see pumpkins; i know this review might not sound so OMG IT WAS THE BEST THiNG THAT HAPPENED TO ME, but that's just because i'm writing this two months after it happened. It still has a special place in my heart.

Much better the last glasgow gig! They may be playing the same set, but it's a damn good one. I noticed whenever Billy played his SG the soudn went awful. You pretty much only hear the bass and drums on those songs. And I couldn't hear any of Wound.

Damn, the support really sucked though.

i think that....

Saw the band 15 years ago and tonight wasn't really a patch on what they used to be like.
Sound in the Big Shed was pretty awful which was a surprise as I have seen other gigs there that were very good sound wise.
Technically Corgan is still one of the most innovative guitarists around, a great talent and the band were pretty tight but my main complaint was that some of the songs and the gig in general went on too long.
As I said Corgan is a phenomenal guitarist and his song structures are great but he spoils it by all his "noodling" at the end of songs. His solo spot was absolutely boring. Anyone can turn a guitar to 11, stick it in front of an amp with loads of effects and make a noise. Me and my mate were yawning at this point.
His random rant at the end was very good though. I wish he had done more of this throughout the gig to break it up a bit more. All in all pretty average. I wouldn't pay £33 and travel 200 miles to see them again.

the best band in the world

i saw the pumpkins at leeds this summer where they weren't as good, so i'm really happy i got to see a great gig. had to go at half 11 though, does anyone know if they played muzzle after that? otherwise, i got most of my favourite songs and billy's stage talk is brill!! 'women can't take me because i'm too big... hearted' *mehehe*

Thank you so much for an awesome gig, Smashing Pumpkins!
Every song was amazing, and you played a lot of me and my friends favourite songs, Tonight, Tonight, The Everlasting Gaze, Ava Adore, Bullet with Butterfly Wings, Mayonaise... I even heard a bit of Daydream in there, i'm sure!
Loved Billy's crowd-conversations too. To put it short, i'll just sum the night up as thank you very much for a unforgetable experience

oh and "Biffy Clyro!" haha

WOW

I saw the Pumpkins at the SECC in 2000 and thought that was brilliant, but they blew that gig out of the water last night...the SECC isn't the best place for a gig but the band didn't let that bother them. Billy called it the Subaru factory.

Anyone got a setlist? I had to leave early to get trains home, so it would be interesting to see what I missed. Still they played 1979, That's The Way, Mayonaise and Tonight, Tonight...I went home more than happy

Amazing

The gig was superb, the setlist(porcelina, mayonaise & lily) to name but a few were amazing. The crowd were a bit slow at the start and didn't get going until tonight kicked off, but after that everyone was right up for it.
Loved the comment about the SECC looking like a car factory, spot on Billy.
Thanks for an amazing gig and come back soon!

Thought the gig last night was amazing, a good mix of knowledgeable fans and newbs, favourite moment was when someone booed the new EP and Billy said he was just angry because they made an album after Gish.

Was really pleased with the set list, Mayonnaise, My Blue Heaven, Lily, pretty much similar to the rest of the tour, but I wouldn't take 1 song out of the list!

P.S. Billy, there are some great musicians from Glasgow, much more well known and talented than Joy Division (why does everyone start to love them suddenly after a movie is made - billy is on the bandwagon there ), ever heard of Jack Bruce, or Mark Knopfler? Or more recently Mogwai, Biffy Clyro, or are you a Franz Ferdinand fan?

Anyway, really enjoyed the digression into random 90s alt rock nonsense at the end, shite chat is the best banter!

BOLOGNA 02 / 04 / 2008. Shake yourselves, Tremble, Pumpkins are back! With a charge of rage inside to scared. They give a thick taste of it to the people of Palamalaguti in Bologna sunday night, second and last italian stop of the tour is bringing around Smashing Pumpkins in North Europe and to the other world, Australia and New Zealand. Opening of dances in Czech Republic, January 30th, then at Datch Forum in Milan and so here they are. At 9 pm the motors heat up, pardon, drums and bass, it starts up. The palace is a river of adoring and waving fans already. Billy Corgan is the man who cames down from Marth, a paranoyd android moving charming but with outbursts of incredible violence like the beats he shoots from his electric guitar as well. Jimmy Chamberlin as master and commander. The new release "Zeitgeist" is on the head - line, but the hits of the past take also place in the concert. Starting is on the notes of "Porcelina" and "Nightmare", adrenaline climbs at 1000 level, a light turns up between red and blue headlamps flying like thunders, is that one brights first jewels, "Tonight" and "Mayonaise": to have gooseflesh! Some touch themselves thinkin' about gold times and some other wonder whether if our guys will manage to repeat, after all their troubles, such a magic next years. The band is trying, Billy believes in it. Ops, there's something different. He warned: «Oh, I got new clothes!». In fact, here he is with dress like a space ship navigator, with Saturn upon the sweater and skirt long till the ankles made of silvers square, which backs up him in running from a side to another of the stage. Corgan has a devil (an Luciferin angel?) inside, sweet before, with that acute, screaming, powerful caressful voice all together, then sharp like a razor, changes accent, a bit "Superchrist", a tone "Charlot", it takes just an handful of songs from "Mellon Collie and the Infinite sadness" to
conquer the crowd. The guitar goes on fire on the notes of "The Everlasting Gaze" and the end is a new beginning for the band who knew to have a rebirth. We gain the exit, shocked and excited. (la. f.)

Great Show

Can Die Happy
Tuesday, February 12, 2008 - 4:40 pm - mole237
I am literally just in my door. Sweaty jeans and all sitting here. Ready to take aspirin for the tootha ache that messed with me the whole gig. Tho it never took anything away from it. I am still in awe. I can as my title say's DIE HAPPY. For years and years i have been in love with the song mayonaise.Just something in the sound or in the lyrics or both gets my soul singing. And now finally I have witnessed it live and in color. Everything was perfect. oh yeah they played a bunch of other songs aswell but that was my gig. I had obviously noticed they were playing it kinda constant on the tour but i would have rushed the stage if they suddenly choose not to play it. Ok i think i have went on enough about that song. Tho i must thank the band for playing it and come back soon.

P.S
Billy if you read this thanx for writing such a wonderful song. And if we need you we will call you up for the scotland squad like you offered.

Take Care one and all
