all i can say is thank you soooooooooo much to sp for actually coming to Belfast! It was honestly the best concert i have been to...ever! Billy was unreal, an unbelieveable 2hr40min set pretty much without a break-amazing! His comic side with the t-shirt girl was hilarious, had the entire hall laughing! Granted the acoustics in Kings Hall are better known for being rather terrible but in saying this i really didn't mind as i got in an awesome position and heard every lyric, every note, everything clearly-(see people all about where ya stand in kings!)

Truely an honour to get to see one of the world's most iconic rock bands play! I pretty much held my breath through 1979 and when Bullet started...OH MY...Well words can't describe the absolute amazement and wonder of it!Tonight Tonight left me literally awe struck!and ava adore was wonderful! The entire show was amazing, so well thought out with all the sides of sp shown-the heavy, melodic and wonderfully wierd(exactly what we all love!)!

thanks!! Just waiting impatiently for ya's to come back again (maybe with a little of 'zero' lol, maybe!!?)

Brilliant - except for the venue.

I have to disagree with Johntubbs above. I have been to plenty of gigs myself and this was the best performance I have seen. Of course the Kings Hall was a let-down, everyone knew that in advance, but the band themselves were awesome. Nearly 3 hours non-stop from Billy Corgan while the rest seemed to take a short break. By the end I like a lot around me were just knackered.

I can't complain, well, I can. Why no 'disarm'?? Some of us are never happy, eh?

One thing though. There was a girl standing beside us who was intent on getting Billy Corgan her t-shirt complete with picture (she was a minger too) and phone number, and when he finally got it, he threw it back - excellent.

Also, the warm-up band - Concerto For Constantine (the singer from JJ72) were excellent, considering the venue and the ignorants beside us shouting "bring on Billy" with their fake Malone Road accents. If you heard a girl at the front shouting 'snow' during one moment of silence, it was the girlfriend. You can't bring her anywhere.

Come back next year, but not to the Kings Hall!!!!!

From the outset it was clear, SP arrived at the Kings Hall, not just to play their big hits, but to deliver a raw, emotional, energetic rollercoaster of a set.

The tempo and intensity fluctuated more than any other gig I can remember. A varied and at times re-worked set, really seemed to confuse the Belfast crowd, who I'm sure wanted to hear more popular songs - That would have been good, but the 2hr 40min set that we got was out of this world; for different reasons.

Not many bands could come to Belfast and rock that hard, for that long, with that intensity, and then in an instant have everyone swaying and singing along to an acoustic number - I loved the way they planned their set and performed on stage. The chorus of Tonight, Tonight with the swooshing light show made my spine tingle!

There were intimate moments, laughs and times when I thought SP were going to blow the front off the Kings Hall, such was the fierce intensity of their delivery of many the heavier songs they performed.

Yes, we all know the acoustics in the Kings Hall are poor, but I'm not going to hold that against the band.

I'd like to thank SP for coming to Belfast, and for a touching, emotional and energetic performance. Hope to see you back soon @ The Ulster Hall

Keep 'er lit lads!

Billy's a subtle showman at first

Saw hundreds of bands, from Metallica to Moby and at first I thought Billy was in a mood, I'm a fan of S.P. for 15yrs! To nerdish proportions. The show in Kings Hall was only let down by sound but only in very few songs, good considering the rep of The Kings Hall (why not the Odysee?) anyhow amazing SHOW, amazing drummer and what a big sound from the Smashing Pumpkins (depending where you stood in the crowd). Billy is one of my favourite lyricists and guitarists and last night it was true to form, I was surprised in parts and blew away from the build up of Porcelena till the blast off of Cherub Rock. S.P should come back but to a different venue... Great show, great music and varied, Billy was a subtle showman, comedian and all out true star he is. Or maybe I'm wrong... Hmmm.

Major disappointment!!

Last night I went to the Kings Hall to see a band that I have avidly followed for some 17 years and by feck was I disappointed! The kings hall acoustics are notoriously poor and last night was no exception! It can only be described as a muffled din meant to promote the profuse bleeding of ones ears. Could anyone make any lyrics out? Bar the acoustic performance of 1979 and a fervent rendition of Bullet the rest was pure unadulterated crap. Anyone who has reviewed this as, "the best gig i've ever been to!" has obviously only been to the one gig. I have given this gig two stars of a rating only out of loyalty!
I had tickets back in 1996 to see the pumpkins in Belfast only for it to be cancelled due to tragedy in Dublin the previous night. My mate who was to go that night has since moved overseas and was jealous that i was going last night and he couldn't make it! He phoned me this morning to hear about the gig only for me to lament about my disappointment (I could hardly hear him due to the incessant ringing in my ears!)

Bar that I'll die a fan of the smashing pumpkins! However i would rather crawl over a field of broken glass to stick dead matches in someones turds than go to the Kings Hall to see a band again.. Theres no place quite like the Ulster Hall (or the occupied six counties Hall if you feel offended!)

Best gig I have ever been to.

I last saw the smashing pumkins in glasgow many years ago and they were just as amazing as I remember the last time! even throwing in covers of "don't stop" and riffs from Iron Maiden's wasted years - I haven't been to such a good gig in years and never a better one in the King's Hall (or maybe even Belfast!) Don't remember them playing disarm though - not sure if i missed it in my obliviously good mood but its my favourite of their songs so I think it was a glaring omission from the setlist. Belfast needs more gigs like this come back soon!!
