My first girlfriend got me into Pumpkins. It was a dark foggy night. We had just had an awesome evening. On the drive home we pulled up at our fave spot on the beach as she had something to tell me. She told me she loved me but for one reason or another we had to break up. In floods of tears, she produced from her bag an item that she said was the only thing that could make her feel better - Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness - now my fave album of all time. She put it in the stereo and selected 3 songs on repeat - "Thirty-Three", "In The Arms of Sleep" and "1979". I fell in love with those songs as quickly as I fell in love with her and there was a burning desire within me to hear more. So I bought Mellon Collie and Siamese Dream the very next day and from that day on I came to realise that the Smshing Pumpkins are the most awesome band of all-time. All I wanted to do was see them live. You can imagine the joy i felt when they reformed, and my dream will be fulfiiled in four days time at the O2 arena, London!
