I remember seeing the video for 1979 when I was three. I remember thinking of how much of a great song it was. I had no idea what the name of the song was or who the band was. A few years later a heard the songs Bullet With Butterfly Wings and Tonight, Tonight. I still didn't know the name of the other song. All I knew was that it was by a band called Smashing Pumpkins. In 2001, my brother bought Rotten Apples when it was released. That's when I heard 1979 again. The first Smashing Pumpkins CD I bought was Siamese Dream. It was the best CD I ever bought and it changed the way I think of music. One of my favorite memories is listening to Mayonaise, which is now my favorite song. Several monthes later I bought Zeitgeist. It was very different then all their other albums. It was my least favorite. I also bought Mellon Collie. I didn't like it at first but now I think it's amazing. The most recent one I bought was MACHINA/ machines of god, which is also good. I hate when people say Adore and MACHINA were bad albums. I think they were great because they had a dark sound to them and they were full of emotion. Smashing Pumpkins has been my favorite band ever since I was three.
