REVIEWS/COMMENTS
Cover of this great record! Who has painted it?
Thursday, August 28, 2008 - 2:59 pm - Patrik1989
Hello everybody! This is one of most important CD of 90īs, classic rock album but...I like this SP record very much cause it gives me really deep feelings since I have heard it for the first time.I have had a feeling like "I know it for the long time".I can tell the same about a front cover of this album. I was thinking about it...I would like to know who has painted it...PLEASE anybody who knows this painter or something, help me!..It is a very nice graphic for me...this idea...great...I dont know an origin of this picture...WHO KNOWS?..(May I ask Billy Patrick William Corgan???)

I am sure there's nothing to say here that hasn't been said better before

This album saved and changed my life. Galapagos still makes me cry. I still listen to Porcelina or Thru the Eyes of Ruby on headphones to come down off of something harsh... and I still see my friends from HS when I hear Zero, Bullet or Muzzle. These were the Pumpkins I loved. I was in row 6.

But every album must be a new invention! A new Era! and it's always been a blast hanging with the Corgan. Zeitgeist is a worthy come-back, but show your love for the tried and true!

Double the pleasure

MCIS is my third favorite pumpkins album right behind siamese dream and machina II.the quite-heavy dynamics are really shown in this album and almost ever song is a winner.

5 Stars

"Today" was a preamble to a creation of a Masterpiece called: "Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness", this is the first time in my whole life that I enjoy hearing the whole songs without excluding one. Definitively, this album is for history of music forever. I still enjoy it like it the first time, but Corgan still create great music indeed like Zeitgeist it's amazing, continue creating art for others to follow you and never stop believing in you're dreams. I wish you luck and a lot of love Corgan!!!! xoxoxoxoxo

A great album right up there with their very best

The Monster, so many great songs and a few that are just not as good. Hey Siamese Dream and Pisces are tough acts to follow and Billy and Co. nearly surpassed them here. Overall this album and Siamese and Pisces would be my three desert island cd's for time capsule to remember SP by.

My First Album

Mellon Collie was the first CD I ever owned so it has a sort of sentimental value to me. What amazes me still to this day is the sheer number of amazing songs featured hear. I think I took that for granted at the time, but having bought other records from other artists since, I came to realize just how special this was. Twenty-eight breath-taking tracks with no filler. I don't know how it was ever accomplished, but I still think this the best Album of all time.

Swept off my feet...

I'll admit, I'm new to the Pumpkins. In fact, I've only had this album for a few months, and only recently started to really listen to it. It's beautiful. I know this is going to be an all-time favorite of mine. These songs are like the memories I never had, never will. There's a kind of bittersweetness to it. I will certainly be looking for other albums!

Mellon Collie and The Infinite Sadness...

I could begin saying that MCIS is my favorite album EVER and EVER and EVER. Sure, The Aeroplane Flies High [box] is the second. But the songs, the lyrics of this album. It sounds to me like BC wrote all of it for me, everytime that i heard this masterpiece of creativity. Mellon Collie looks like a band at their best. Not a simple best, but THAT best, the REAL BEST. I usually divide my life in before MCIS and after MCIS. Whatever, sometimes I think I live inside this songs. THANK YOU, Thank You VERY MUCH for it, Smashing Pumpkins!

A Masterpiece of Modern Day Rock n' Roll
Saturday, April 12, 2008 - 12:38 pm - Greyg_zer0
The Smashing Pumpkins will never die.
After making an awesome second album, as well as another previous masterpiece, "Siamese Dream," respectively, in the summer of 1993, the Smashing Pumpkins blow up all expectations with the seemingly beautiful, intricate and relentless, "Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness" just a week before Halloween in the fall of 1995.

From the beautiful opening instrumental track, through unforgettable tracks such as "Tonight, Tonight," "Porcelina of the Vast Oceans" and "1979," to the doom-infested and wonderfully gloomy, "Farewell and Goodnight," "Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness" does not disappoint the casual, music listener's ears, let alone any die-hard Pumpkins Fan.
This album changed the way people looked at Rock n' Roll, as well as music today. This album is a great album. It's the album that they were always destined to make.

"Mellon Collie and The Infinite Sadness" was composed by Jimmy Chamberlin, Billy Corgan, James Iha, and D'arcy Wretzky.
It was produced by Flood and Alan Moulder.

This Album is my Desert Island Disc. It's my first port of call when I just want to be me, and my first offering to Friends who know no better.

My life would not be the same without it!

The best!

This is one of my favorite albums to ever be made, along with "Appetite for Destruction", "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band", and "Led Zeppelin IV". I didn't give a single song below a 4 on my media player, and for a double album that's pretty impressive. A gripe I've been having with this site, however, is that some of the best songs have the lowest ratings. In my opinion, the best songs are "Tonight, Tonight", "Bullet with Butterfly Wings", "Porcelina of the Vast Oceans", "1979", "Beautiful" and "Farewell and Goodnight". How the hell does "Tonight" only have a 4.4 while "Stumbeline" and "Bodies", which are good but some of the weakest on the album, have better? Why is "Take Me Down" so low? That's a beautiful song! "X.Y.U" isn't that great either, but apparently it's better than "Bullet". What the hell is that all about? Whatever, if you haven't already heard it do yourself a favor, buy it and get ready to have your mind blown.
